By Jennifer Howard Gazette Staff Writer Student artwork is currently on display at the Bedford County Arts Center. This multimedia exhibit will run as a two-part series, first featuring works of students in grades 7-12. Bedford, Chestnut Ridge, Everett, Northern Bedford and Tussey Mountain art students, as well as a few home schoolers, have entered 105 pieces in the 19th annual Multimedia Student Show. "It's amazing," said board chairman Lynn Ashe. "There is an enormous amount of talent in Bedford County." An opening reception was held Sunday afternoon, in which artists had the opportunity to show off their talents to family, friends and other community members who participated. "I love seeing a kid take their mom and dad and point and show them what they did," Ashe said, noting that the student show is one of the arts center's most well-attended exhibits. The show will run through Friday, March 12, and will be followed by part two, which includes artwork by students in grades 1-6. Part two will also open with a Sunday reception, scheduled for March 14 from 1 to 3 p.m., and will run through Friday, March 26. "I think there is a special electricity in kids' work, because they're still growing artistically. The student show is always very exciting," Ashe said. She acknowledged the many "good art teachers" in Bedford County as well, for pushing students to think and create. The Bedford County Arts Center is located at 137 E. Pitt St., Bedford. Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
